Per Faxneld is associate professor in Study of Religions at Södertörn University, Sweden. He is currently conducting a three-year project funded by the Swedish Research Council on spiritual dimensions of Japanese martial arts as practiced in Sweden. Faxneld is the author of the award-winning monograph Satanic Feminism: Lucifer as the Liberator of Woman in Nineteenth-Century Culture (Oxford University Press, 2017) and several other books and numerous articles. Specializing in esotericism and alternative spirituality, he is especially interested in issues pertaining to secularity, gender, aesthetics, and cultural transfers. Other research interests include folk religion and the intersection of religion and cinema.
